Ella Jane Knox ~ 11.03.2010 ~ Encinitas, California Photographer

I am fascinated by how the world works; consisting of an amazingly saturated web of everyday instances and experiences that shape the future of our lives. If you were to give yourself a chance to step back, take a look and reflect about how your life came to be the way it is today, it would become apparent that every single experience and circumstance you have ever encountered has molded the life you live. The slightest modification of an everyday task can change the rest of your life.

I was first introduced to Elizabeth somewhere around the age of 7. Being older than me and an amazing rider she became a mentor and inspiration for me at a very young age. A few years later, as life has it, our lives went separate ways when I moved to a different barn, inevitably loosing touch. It was just about three years ago that Elizabeth and I crossed paths once again at a horse show, that I don't usually go to but happened to be at. Although it had been over 15 years since we had seen or heard from each other, I recognized her. Knowing that she would not recognize me as the little seven year old barn runt with the evil pony, I introduced myself and I'm so happy I did.

Although there had been a gap of 15 years, there was no gap of conversation. It amazes me how you can have friendships like that. Where you can not see each other for years and years, but when you see each other again you just pick up where you left off. I like that, it makes me smile.

Long story short . . . Elizabeth and I kept in touch for the past few years. She has been a great supporter of my photography, watching it grow over the past few years. It was months ago that Elizabeth had let me know that her and her husband, Jamie, are expecting a baby and that she wanted me to photograph her when she arrives.  Honored beyond all belief, I was beyond excited to travel to San Diego (for the first time) and visit Elizabeth, Jamie and their newest addition, Ella Jane.

It was a great trip, time and adventure. I am so happy and thankful I was able to spend a few days with them and experience California.

Thank you world for bringing Elizabeth back into my life and giving me this experience.

Ella Jane has an amazing life ahead of her!!

Congratulations Elizabeth and Jamie!! Looking forward to watching Ella grow!!

It's needed . . .

. . . because sometimes you get too caught up on the numerous camera bodies & various lenses . . . you forget about the "fun" part . . . about how & why you started . . .

. . . sometimes one day out with just one body & one fixed lens is enough to bring you back . . .
